Molly McHenry is a family and psychiatric nurse practitioner who has cared for medically disenfranchised children, adolescents, and young adults for over 15 years. Her career at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital began in the Hamilton County Juvenile Detention Center medical center and the Transgender Clinic and over the past few years has shifted to splitting her time between a school-based community health center, the Environmental Health Clinic, and the CHECK Foster Care Clinic. She received her bachelors of science in nursing and family nurse practitioner degrees from Columbia University and her psychiatric and mental health nurse practitioner degree from the University of Cincinnati. She started her nursing career in New York City working on an inpatient HIV unit while completing multiple clinical rotations caring for unhoused youth through the Health Outreach To Teens (HOTT) program at the Callen Lorde Community Health Clinic. She continued her career caring for unhoused, HIV+, and LGBTQ+ youth through the Sidney Borum Jr Health Center, the adolescent medicine arm of Fenway Health in Boston, MA. She continues to serve as a core faculty member of Fenway Health’s LGBTQ+ Health Education Center and frequently offers workshops and talks on topics including sexual health through a queer lens, trauma-informed care, caring for LGBTQ+ youth, and race and incarceration. Through the Education Center she served as a faculty member on the first ever ECHO training session pertaining to providing care to members of the LGBTQ+ community. Her medical practice is rooted in harm-reduction, racial equity, empowerment, and justice as she strives to help close gaps to access through empathy, advocacy, and education. As a foster parent and member of the LGBTQ+ community herself, Molly understands firsthand the need for comprehensive, compassionate and consistent care for the communities she serves.I
