Maura Anaya, Intern

Maura is currently pursuing an M.Ed in Counseling at Lindsey Wilson College. Before this, Maura spent the last few years as an English tutor for the Cambodian Buddhist community, studying and writing about meditation and transformational change. She has worked for decades across various systems serving families and children experiencing crisis, trauma, financial hardship, separation, attachment issues,  homelessness, and grief. She has studied restorative justice practices and conflict resolution in the USA and abroad.

She intends to create a safe, non-judgmental, and compassionate space to work through the challenges clients face together. Maura's approach fosters self-healing, resilience, self-compassion, and empowerment. She believes each person has within themselves the capacity for positive growth.    Maura is rooted in client-centered, integrated, and holistic methodologies, incorporating evidence-based and intuitive practices depending on the individual's needs. This may include but is not limited to mindfulness, emotional regulation, narrative therapy, cognitive and behavioral therapy,  family systems, as well as somatic or body-based practices.

Maura is an avid gardener. She enjoys spending time with her family and friends, reading, and writing in her free time.
