Becky J. Wirsch is a Licensed Social Worker in the state of Ohio. She received her master’s of science degree in Social Work from the University of Tennessee and her bachelor’s degree in Social Work from Northern Kentucky University. Becky has also earned her IMSLSEC certification in Orton-Gillingham (OG), a multisensory reading program, through the Children’s Dyslexia Center of Cincinnati. She spent several years implementing the OG program at a special needs school for children with Autism and learning disabilities.
Becky has provided therapeutic services to both children and adults as well as their loved ones. She has experience working in a community mental health setting treating a wide range of disorders. She believes in maximizing the strengths of one’s own support system, since the work of therapy is continued within one’s own environment and family.
Becky has experience in grief counseling at Alive Hospice in Nashville and views much of therapeutic work as grief related. Although grief is most often associated with the physical loss of a loved one, much of life is loss -- the loss of self due to trauma, the transition from childhood to adulthood, the development of friendships and the wearing away of old ones. Becky also employs a broader range of treatments to include CBT, play therapy, and crisis intervention.
